Facebook group membership questions: examples, templates and lead-capture structure
Facebook group membership questions can qualify applicants, reveal what the audience needs, and create a clear opt-in moment. The strongest setup gives each question one job and avoids collecting data you will never use.
The three-question framework
1. Fit
Identify the member's role, stage or goal.
2. Problem
Learn the one obstacle they most want help with.
3. Permission
Offer a specific resource and ask where to send it.
Copyable question templates
| Use case | Fit / context | Problem | Email-value exchange |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coach | “Which best describes where you are right now?” | “What is the biggest obstacle you want help with?” | “Want the starter checklist by email? If yes, enter the best address.” |
| Course creator | “Which topic are you currently learning?” | “Where are you getting stuck?” | “Want the lesson planner by email? Enter your address if yes.” |
| Agency | “Are you a business owner, marketer or agency?” | “Which growth problem is most urgent?” | “Want the audit template by email? Add the address to send it to.” |
| Paid community | “Which membership/program are you part of?” | “What outcome are you working toward?” | “Want the onboarding guide by email? Enter your preferred address.” |
| Local business | “Which area are you located in?” | “What are you hoping to learn or solve here?” | “Want our local checklist/newsletter? Add your email if yes.” |
Bad vs better
Bad: “Email?” It gives no reason and creates unclear expectations. Better: “Want the new-member checklist by email? If yes, enter the best address to send it to.” The second version explains the value exchange and the immediate purpose.
Bad: three open-ended essays. Better: combine one structured question with one useful open-ended question and one optional value-exchange question.
Turn answers into useful fields
A practical sheet can contain: captured date, group, name, email, fit/stage, main problem, requested resource, approval status, CRM sync status and notes. Keep raw open-ended answers intact when possible.
Automate only after the questions are clear
Software cannot rescue a confusing question. Once the wording is stable, tools such as GroupConvert can capture answers and move them into a spreadsheet-centered workflow. See the full lead-capture workflow.
